This course is targeted at students who are:
. seeking to pursue a career in the automotive industry
. seeking a pathway to higher level qualifications
. seeking to formalise existing skills and knowledge.
Completing this course may provide you with employment or learning opportunities. Potential employment options are in a range of automotive roles. Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into a range of Certificate IV qualifications from the AUR Training Package such as the AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis.
This course is delivered online, in the workplace, through industry practice and in your own time.
You will participate in a total of 35 hours of training and assessment per week by distance, in the workplace, through industry practice and in your own time for 80 weeks (8 terms of 10 weeks each). Holiday breaks are 21 weeks in total and the timing of these breaks will be advised when you start your course.
You will attend 2 x 2 hour face-to-screen online training sessions a week as well as complete structured workplace learning activities in your workplace using your Self-Study Guide. Practical assessments will also be undertaken in your workplace.
You will also read through and complete Assessment Task 1: Knowledge Questions in your own time before completing the assessment.
In addition to the above, you will also need to complete approximately 2 hours of additional, unsupervised study per week including general reading and research for assessments.

At the beginning of each unit, your trainer and assessor will outline the assessment tasks that must be completed.
You will be provided with a Student Guide relevant to each unit in your course.

Academy of the Northern Territory Tech Skills has the following entry requirements:
You must:
. currently be employed in an automotive industry role and have access to heavy commercial vehicles
. participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs; and
. have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills as tested through a language, literacy and numeracy assessment. Students will need to achieve ACSF level 3 for reading, writing, numeracy and oral communication to enter the course.
The costs for this course are as follows:

Course fees do not include laptops or software – see information above. Please note that you will also be required to provide a National Police Certificate and some workplaces may require certain immunisations. These will be at your own cost. You can read more about this in the Student Handbook, and we encourage you to do so, especially if you have any concerns around these requirements.
A detailed payment plan and payment arrangements, including information on refunds, are provided in the Offer Letter and Student Agreement. You must pay all your course fees and on time. Non-payment of fees may result in cancellation of enrolment.

We will then contact you to conduct a course entry interview and LLN assessment.
If your application is successful, we will send you an Offer Letter and Student Agreement. You should make sure you read through this document carefully to make sure you are happy with all of the terms and conditions. If you are, then simply sign the document and send it back to us.
Once we receive this, we will email you to confirm your enrolment and issue an invoice for the first payment.
The first day of each course will include orientation and induction. Orientation will include information about accessing our support services and methods for achieving success throughout the course, including course progress requirements.
